English �Sicels�, Greek �Sikeloi� ancient Sicilian tribe that occupied the eastern part of Sicily. Old tales related that the Siculi once lived in central Italy but were driven out and finally crossed to Sicily, leaving remnants behind - e.g., at Locri.
